Meet Our Audiologist

Erin (Carter) Davis, M.Sc., R.Aud, Au.D.
Doctor of Audiology/Owner

Erin (Carter) Davis, M.Sc., R.Aud, Au.D.

Owner, Doctor of Audiology

Our Doctor of Audiology, Erin (Carter) Davis, has many years of education and experience in diagnosing and treating hearing loss and other hearing-related issues. We use state-of-the-art equipment and the latest techniques to provide accurate assessments and personalized treatment plans.

Dr. Erin Davis is a clinical audiologist with a passion for reconnecting individuals with the world around them. After completion of her undergraduate degree in behavioral neuroscience, she embarked on her journey to become an audiologist at Dalhousie University, where she earned a Master of Science degree in Audiology.  After practicing clinically for many years, she decided to continue her education at A.T. Still University to earn her Doctor of Audiology degree.

Her clinical experience and advanced studies equipped her with the diagnostic skill set and knowledge required to provide the highest level of care to those suffering with hearing difficulties. After more than a decade in clinical practice, Erin knew the best way to provide the level of service she envisioned for her patients was to open her own clinic. With patient-centred care as the only goal, The Hearing Place was born.

When she’s not working, Erin can be found spending time with her daughter and husband.  She has a keen interest in cooking, often experimenting with new recipes and flavours.  Although she is originally from the East Coast, Erin has developed a love for the mountains and enjoys skiing, hiking, and camping.

Contact our office today to schedule your appointment with Dr. Erin and take the first step towards improved hearing and a better quality of life.

What is a Doctor of Audiology?

A Doctor of Audiology (Au.D.) is a doctoral degree possessed by an audiologist who has an advanced education from an accredited university in the scope of audiology: the branch of science concerned with the sense of hearing.  All audiologists in Canada must have at least a Master of Science (M.Sc.) degree to be registered to practice. Audiologists have anywhere from six to nine years of university education and are experts in all things hearing.  They have a large scope of training that enables them to assess and diagnose a wide range of hearing and balance disorders in children and adults. Hearing Aid Practitioners (also called Hearing Instrument Specialists) are clinicians with a two-to-three-year college diploma, who can assess hearing and dispense hearing aids for adults only. A Doctor of Audiology is different from an Ear-Nose-Throat (ENT) doctor as ENTs are physicians who attended medical school. Unlike ENT doctors, Doctors of Audiology cannot perform surgeries or prescribe medications, but rather assess the function of hearing and hearing related disorders and provide comprehensive treatment solutions.
